ive been waiting the longest time for the jonas carlson gogs:)
how much are they gonna be
what happened to all the water proofing?
my last years vintersars was 20000 now its 5000?
Not everyone has the power of last years sars...That is a very powerful jacket and very rarely does another jacket have the power to stand up to that jacket. Although this year we are dealing w/ 5,000 it is still enough to keep the water out and the fun in. Thanks
more money for less water proofing i dont get it
좋구나~
hello friends. I am very sorry for the drop in water proofing. I wish the answer to the problem was simple. Manufacturing outerwear is a task that cannot even be described. So many things are involved it is crazy. Airblaster is small and we are doing everything we can to grow and provide quality product to our customer. This season we have uped the quality of our items. Once you see the product in stores you will notice it is leaps and bounds above last season. One thing that had to take a hit with our new factory and production was waterproof ratings. The reason last season had such high ratings was because we had the chance to pay much lower prices in other areas. Those other areas where the cause of such things as hip bag pants with no gaitors or leather pull tabs with glue that would just fall off. We now have items that should perform, look and fit 10 times better then last year, however some items have lost some of the WPR a bit. Just a heads up, can anyone even tell me what the Rating even means? Anyone that gets the correct answer will get a hook up for sure.
Each year we work hard to improve product, design and lower prices. Each year we get closer to our goal. Next season I am sure we will be even closer.
thanks.

For a fabric to be classified as waterproof it needs to withstand water pressure applied from a 1m high column or higher, and not leak and this is the approach to tests the fabric’s resistance to water penetration.
If the fabric withstands water pressure applied from a 1000mm water column, it is said to have a “hydrostatic head of 1” or 1000mm waterproofing. If the fabric withstands water pressure applied by a 20,000mm water column, it has a “Hydrostatic Head of 20” or 20,000 mm waterproofing.
Thanks and I hope this is correct,
Stewie
Waterproof fabrics are fabrics that will withstand over 1000mm of water (at 9.8 kPa) pressure without leaking, whilst allowing water vapor to pass through. The so-called “standardized test” for the outerwear industry for measuring a fabric’s water permeability is by placing a column of water on the fabric and allowing the water level to build up (causing the pressure to rise) up till the point that the water begins to penetrate the fabric. This is the point of waterproofing (WP) and the fabric is given a rating for how WP it is: eg. 10,000mm.
Tests done in rain rooms prove that even fabrics with less than 1000mm WP can keep you dry (under normal circumstances – I think this means rain?). Meaning something like this year’s Parka X will have no troubles whatsoever with 10x this “minimum” amount of WP. Last year’s Airblaster line had WP ratings of up to 20,00mm meaning that over 24 hours the fabric could withstand 20,000mm (approx 66 ft.) of rainfall.
BUT… the key to keeping water out is not the fabric itself (although that is a major factor) it is the taping of the seams (hoods, zippers, etc.) – Airblaster products do not have this concern as they are all “fully taped.” So I say, quit complaining... You haven’t tested the product yet… wait for them to come out before you criticize; and judging by looks alone, every one of these products will be bad ass.
Ps. Note that WP rating is for the fabric alone, not the whole jacket. A jacket may be have a rating of 20,000mm but if the seams aren’t sealed water will get in. Taped seams are what really count. I think that about covers it all haha, good thing Biology 115 lectures are almost as exciting as research for a completely non-related subject.

Great two answers. I am stoked that mike mentioned the connection between WP rating and seam taping.
I am also excited that he mentioned that under normal situations even material under 1000 will keep you dry. This is for sure the case. 20,000 WP is awsome but I am sure most of us do not ride in down poor for 24 hours. We do what we can to improve our product quality. Uping the WP is a major goal.
thanks for the answers.
airblaster has always made great products with all of us in mind. this is no different this year im sure. the rise in cost can be seen all across snowboarding. holden has got $400+ jackets out there. so just enjoy what they are giving us for now.
thanks,
michael
im in love with my vintersars jacket
just so in love i just bought the mixdown jacket
and im hoping its 10x better
i doesnt really matter bout waterproofing though, the funnest days are when its down pouring and you have plastic bags as your waterproofing
man i miss those days
WoW...
I did not know people cared so much about numbers and such. I dont even use pencils...I just want to ride get on my board and ride!!!
I was just wondering if both stewie and mike's answers were actually correct and if so what are you hooking them up with?
No offense but you guys need to get yo %$#t together....The site is lacking, and the new site is 21 days later.....still much love
thought i would drop my $.02. i haven't cared much about waterproof ratings much over the past couple of years. after a year of riding tough i don't care what material you are riding it is going to deteriorate and let in some amount of moisture, especially here in the northwest. i am just stoked on a company that started in a basement by snowboarders that is inventive, fun and gets you amped to ride. thanks for keeping it that way and upping the ante in quality. i am headed to exit to check out the new drop now!
What stores in Vancouver, B.C. have your stuff?
i was at boardroom on west 4th and they sed they were gonna carry it this year
Hey are the goggles 100 UV protection?
i <3 new airblaster site

the virgin joke
Body: virgin girl is on the phone and asks her boyfriend to come
over and have dinner with her parents. Since this is such a
big event, the girl announces to her boyfriend that
after dinner, she would like to go out and make love
for the first time.

Well, the boy is ecstatic, but he has never had sex
before, so he takes a trip to the pharmacist to get
some condoms. He tells the pharmacist it's his first time and
the pharmacist helps the boy for about an hour.
He tells the boy everything there is to know about condoms and
sex.
* * * * * * * * *
At the register, the pharmacist asks the boy how many
condoms he'd like to buy, a 3-pack, 10-pack, or family
pack. The boy insists on the family pack because he
thinks he will be rather busy, it being his first time and all.

That night, the boy shows up at the girl's parents
house and meets his girlfriend at the door. "Oh, I'm
so excited for you to meet my parents, come on in!"
* * * * * * * * *
The boy goes inside and is taken to the dinner table
where the girl's parents are seated. The boy quickly
offers to say grace and bows his head.
* * * * * * * * *
A minute passes, and the boy is still deep in prayer,
with his head down.
* * * * * * * * *
10 minutes pass, and still no movement from the boy.
* * * * * * * * *
Finally, after 20 minutes with his head down, the
girlfriend leans over and whispers to the
boyfriend, "I had no idea you were this religious."
* * * * * * * *
The boy turns, and whispers back, "I had no idea your
father was a pharmacist."

If you DON'T re-post this in 6 minutes you will
have bad sex for life!!!
